Today I actually got to go IN the salt water. It was full of bits of seaweed much like pulp floating around in orange juice. I drink orange juice with no pulp, so that should tell you just how much I enjoy floaty things in liquid that come in contact with my body. I mean, I know seaweed is natural and harmless AND people spend big bucks for special seaweed wraps and such when I just got it for free, but it did take some getting use to. Once I stopped focusing on the textural weirdness of my foreign surroundings (and complaining how gross it felt) and focused on the fact I’m in an amazing and beautiful place with loving and supportive people, it was much easier to just ENJOY my time. Really, this is a good life lesson: Everyone experiences change. Sometimes we consider it good; sometimes we consider it bad. Regardless, sometimes it can throw us into a place (whether physically or psychologically) that seems weird because it is foreign. I have been guilty of focusing on the “weirdness” part of change instead of focusing on the wonderful parts of change. Today was a good reminder to keep things in perspective. …now if I can just remember this little story when I NEED it. 😉
