A consistent theme throughout my work is the human experience. My ideas stem from my memories as well as what I see in the world around me. Therefore, my art consists of a variety of topics. I am intrigued by the way various circumstances affect the human psyche.
The works of Edvard Munch, Edward Hopper, Kathe Kollwitz and Wayne Thiebaud have influenced my work. My work combines Munch’s use of expression and adolescent memories, Hopper’s use of isolationism, Kollwitz’s use of accurate yet expressive images combined with social content and Thiebaud’s non-confrontational approach to sentimental delicacies.
I enjoy working from life as well as from photographs. All work is original. I am certainly not a photo-realist artist. The art I create combines realism with expressionism. Throughout my body of work, both figurative and non-figurative pieces are incorporated. Both my figurative and non-figurative work express the human experience. My non-figurative work mainly deals with places or objects that hold significant meaning. Moreover, my non-figurative work suggests the presence of humans. The human experience is the tie between all of my work.
I recognize God, the Creator, as the source of my creativity. Any talent in which I possess comes from Him. Without God, I could not have achieved what I have. He is the Master of Art.
